The prenatal and postpartum yoga program at Birth In Color RVA with Tyanna Haynes and at Sentara Careplex with Donna Watkins is designed to prepare you for your unique birth experience, both physically and mentally, while relieving the stresses that are put on your body. Prenatal and postpartum Yoga may also help alleviate other discomforts such as low back pain, sciatica, and swelling. Yoga can also help with the emotional and mental stress of pregnancy, including restless sleep.

Classes include relaxation and breathing techniques as well as poses to promote muscle toning, strength, balance and improve focus.

A prenatal yoga class is a great way to meet other pregnant people and feel a sense of community in a healthy supportive environment.

Prepare for lactation before pregnancy and get support as you navigate lactation by joining our monthly Support Group and Clinic. Connect with others on their feeding journey, gain lactation education, and receive support from Lactation Consultants.

The Birth in Color Hands of Hope Support Group is for anyone who is experiencing anxiety, worry, depression, or other mood disorders during or after pregnancy.

If you are experiencing perinatal or postpartum mood and anxiety disorders during or after pregnancy, you are not alone. We are here to walk with you. Join us for support, resources, guidance, and to connect with others.

A perinatal or postpartum mood and anxiety disorder (PMAD) is the term used to describe distressing feelings that occur during pregnancy (perinatal) and throughout the first year after pregnancy (postpartum).

This group is free to attend, we ask and encourage you to attend regularly to get the greatest benefit of being a part of the community.

Prenatal + Postpartum Yoga

Locations: Richmond (Birth in Color, 115 E. Broad St.) and Hampton (Sentara Careplex, 3000 Coliseum D.)

The prenatal and postpartum yoga program at Birth In Color RVA with Tyanna Haynes and at Sentara Careplex with Donna Watkins is designed to prepare you for your unique birth experience, both physically and mentally, while relieving the stresses that are put on your body. Prenatal and postpartum Yoga may also help alleviate other discomforts such as low back pain, sciatica, and swelling. Yoga can also help with the emotional and mental stress of pregnancy, including restless sleep.

Classes include relaxation and breathing techniques as well as poses to promote muscle toning, strength, balance and improve focus.

A prenatal yoga class is a great way to meet other pregnant people and feel a sense of community in a healthy supportive environment.

$5 if you have a Birth in Color Doula (50% discount)

$10 if you do not have a Birth in Color Doula

Prepare for birth and postpartum with expert guidance. Topics include interventions, lactation support, comfort measures, newborn care, and nutrition counseling. Partners are encouraged to attend!

  • Winter: Jan 7, 14, 21, 28; Feb 4, 11

  • Spring: Apr 1, 8, 15, 22, 29; May 6

  • Summer: Jul 1, 8, 15, 22, 29; Aug 5

  • Fall: Oct 7, 14, 21, 28; Nov 4, 11

Locations: Richmond, Hampton, Suffolk, and Lynchburg (select during registration).

We strongly encourage and prefer for you to register for all sessions of the series you plan to attend as the information will be sequential. If you are bringing a partner or support person(s), you only need to register for one ticket in the name of the pregnant person.

Clothing Swap

Join us for our Kids Clothing Swap, a monthly event designed to help parents exchange gently used items for their growing children.

All items must meet quality standards set by volunteers to ensure fairness and respect among participants.

Drop-off Dates:

Event Schedule:

* 9:00 am: Set up

* 10:00 am - 12:00 pm: Check-in, Item Inspection

* 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm: Swap Event (Each family brings 2 medium-sized bags)

* 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm: Breakdown and Closing

Additional Information:

* Items must be gently used and in reusable condition.

* All items should be thoroughly cleaned and in good condition before swapping.

* No broken, stained, or damaged items will be accepted.

* Prohibited items include used pacifiers, bottle nipples, and teething toys.

* Only one large baby item (e.g., stroller, bassinet) per swap event is allowed.

* Bartering for cash is strictly prohibited.

* Outside donations are welcome.

The Blueprint Class was created to discuss pregnancy from the perspective of non-birthing individuals in an easy, casual, and informative manner.

Dads and parents can expect to learn about supporting pregnant partners, understanding their legal rights as new parents, and experiencing the famous contraction sublimation machine, which simulates what pregnancy contractions may feel like for their partners.

The Milk Bar

Spend time with other families and babies. Learn and share valuable parenting advice. Find out how much milk your baby is getting with a pre- and post-feed weight. Latch, positioning, and other lactation assistance will be offered by a registered lactation consultant or lactation educator.

Prepare for lactation before pregnancy and get support as you navigate lactation by joining our monthly Support Group and Clinic. Connect with others on their feeding journey, gain lactation education, and receive support from Lactation Consultants.

If you live outside of the city where the clinic is being held on that date, join us virtually! You'll have the opportunity to engage with lactation support professionals, gain the information from that clinic and topic, and ask questions!
